Born into a wealthy family as the 2nd son of successful Jewish Indiana banker Louis Henry Legler, George Phar Legler was destined to follow his own paths to the drummer he was to hear. The later 1880-1890s witnesed a series of financial panics across the United States leaving some in dire straights.
George's father, a man of great financial insight and stability, weathered the economic storms of his time remarkably providing stability for himself and his large family of children.
